Lieutenant Colonel (US Army, Retired) Korey O. Mitchell is from Cincinnati, Ohio and currently resides in Bowie, Maryland. LTC Mitchell graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) in 1992 and commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer. He started his career as a Fire Direction Officer, Firing Battery Platoon Leader, and Battery Executive Officer with 3-18 Field Artillery (FA) Battalion (BN) at Fort Sill, OK. Additional assignments included Battery Commander in 2-17 FA BN, 2 Infantry Division (Korea); Fire Support Officer Third Army Army Central Command (ARCENT), Fort McPherson, GA; Company Commander, U.S. Army Rochester (NY) Recruiting Company; Executive Officer to the Director of Materiel, Army G8, Pentagon.
LTC Mitchell served in the 1st Cavalry Division (Fort Cavasos, TX) as a Brigade Fire Support Officer/Chief of Operations (2nd Brigade Combat Team), and 3-82 FA BN Operations Officer during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF) 06-08. He also served as the Executive Officer for 3-82 FA BN. He deployed to Iraq again while serving as the Assistant Fire Support Coordinator and Chief of Future Operations, Multi-National Division-Baghdad. LTC Mitchell was then assigned to the Joint Staff J3, Pentagon serving as an Assistant Deputy Director for Operations, in the National Military Command Center, as well as the Chief of the Operations, Training, Standardization & Evaluations Branch, Nuclear, Homeland Defense, and Current Operations Directorate. LTC Mitchell retired in 2014 after 22 years of service. After his military career he served as a Department of Defense (DoD) contractor in the roles of Subject Matter Expert, Deputy Program Manager, and Program Manager.
